300 Remington Ultra Magnum

First off I want to say that I'm new to GB and this place is great so far. I plan to make this a regular stop in the future. I have a 300 RUM , Model:700 LSS(Laminated synthetic stock, stainless barrel) with a Leupold Vari-X III 4.5-14x50mm scope. I need to sell this gun and I have no idea what it is worth. I'm not real sure how much value a gun like this will hold. It is about 1 1/2 years old and in mint condition. It is a tackdriver from a long ways off. I paid about $620 for it from a local gun dealer and have about $620 invested in the scope and mounting hardware. I took it back to the gundealer and they offered me $800 for it. Is that what this gun is worth? It's a great looking gun, almost too pretty to be hunting with:) Any input would be greatly appreciated.

    Your gun in used condition is probably worth a little more than hes offering of course because he needs to resell it. If you need the $$ now then take it and dont look back. If you have time and dont need quick cash then list it in the paper or sell it here. Its a nice gun but may not be the most desireable caliber depending on where you live.

    Thanks MFI. I do need to sell this ASAP so I may run an ad in the local paper for a week and resort to the gunshop if I don't get results. So do you think asking $950 is too much? I know when I was looking for this gun I would have jumped on an offer like this if I have come across it.

    Well you gun is worth what someone will pay for it. Its condition is key though and remember sometimes we do not agree on condition. I assume your stock is laminated wood and SS barrel not laminated synthetic. I think based on what you have in it $950.00 is a fair price.

    Your price is correct.

    dealer cost on the rifle is $595.00
    dealer cost on the scope is $494.44

    why chase the game when the bullet can get em from here?....
