I have one with the hammer. I want to remove the spur off the hammer will it still have enough mass to hit the primer hard enough.

  I have one without the hammer and my friend wanted one too. He couldn't get one because of CA drop test laws (bobbed hammer model hadn't been tested). He bought a normal one, bobbed the hammer himself (left a tiny nub so he could shoot it single action if he really wanted to) and it still shoots fine.
  
  I'm no gunsmith and can't say it will work every time, but it worked fine for him.

  Yes you can bob the hammer on a Taurus 85. Just becareful not to take off too much. If it is stainless you can polish up the area. If it is blue you will need to refinish aleast the hammer before it rusts.
