9MM+P In a Glock 17
Got some 9MM+P Rounds for Christmas and I have a few questions.
First, I guess I'm not 100% sure what the difference between a regular 9MM round and a +P round are. I thought the +P round was just loaded hotter so that it shoots fast, but I'm not sure.
Secondly, can a Glock 17 handle +P rounds without a problem?
Lastly, is it bad to keep bullets stored in a magazine for an extended period of time?

Your Glock will shoot any 9mm you can stick in the magazine. They are commonly shot with machine gun ammo.. You can leave magazines loaded forever. No one I know has ever found that to harm them. 0 -
roboman.... Your are right, +p 9mm is a little hotter than non+p.
It generates higher pressure which results in more velocity.
The glock 17 can handle the +p ammo just fine, but you might find that your point of impact will differ from standard 9mm ammo.
Leaving your mags loaded with ammo should not hurt them. The thing that wears on the mags springs is the frequent loading and unloading of the mags, with the repeated compression of the spring.
If you are not using a mag, I would suggest unloading it. If you are keeping a mag ready for use in an emergency, you should have no problem keeping it loaded for months at a time.
About 15 years ago I had occassion to meet a lady whos husband was one of the Flying Tigers pilots during WWII under Gen Claire Chennault. She still had his govt .45 pistol in the original shoulder holster and a couple mags "still loaded" with military ball ammo. These mags had been loaded almost 50 years and they still were functional.

+P should be no problem and leaving mags loaded is OK too.
If you only have time to do two things so-so, or one thing well ... do the one thing!0
