Colt Serial Numbers

I recently acquired a Colt Sp1 Carbine with serial number SP154xxx. According to this site:(http://www.biggerhammer.net/ar15/ar15serial.html), is it from 1975 or 1978. If not either of those what year is it. Thanks


Anybody comes through that door, you put two in the chest and one in the head!

  Does anyone know of a reputable list of preban colt (ar) serial numbers? I have an offer to buy one that is "preban" but I can't verify the number on any list that I can find as yet, and Colt does nothing but put me on hold.

  I was looking and did not see a way to look up lightweight commanders. Mine is serial number FL05975E, anyone know when it was made?

  Just browsed through "proofhouse.com" and was amazed at the errors and lack of information....... I don't think I would count on this to be "gospel" until I did more checking..... Lots of information that is just plain "false." Hhhmmmmmmm! Wonder why?

  Chris - This web site appears to only go up through 1978. Your lightweight was probably made after this, but I really don't know anything about that model.
