Broken Glock Frame
I have a Glock target model that I am fond of that is serial number XX00001. I know Glock uses different letter perfixes, but I like the 00001 suffix. The gun has a cracked frame... I want to send it back to Glock for their fix, but want to keep the same serial # on the frame and have it match the barrel. Will they replace the frame if I send it back or repair it (can a repair even be done on a Glock frame?)
Thanks

You need to be talking to Glock as they are the ones that will actually handle things, so anything you hear in this forum has basically no value/bearing to/on the outcome.

oldcoltman,
Call Glock at their home USA office in Smyrna, GA. 770.432.1202.
Your pistol may have a factory defect and they may replace it free. Whether or not you get the same SN is doubtfull.
I went through a situation awhile back. My Sheriff's Office sold a Glock among many pistols at a Sheriff's sale. The serial plate on the frame in front of the trigger guard was missing. It still had matching numbers on the slide and barrel. But, the FEDS only recognize the frame SN. I called Glock and they had me have the dealer that bought it send it to them. They replaced the frame and all the parts in it, brand new, for $45.00. It came back with a different SN than what is on the barrel and slide.
As far as repairing a cracked frame, even if they could do it, they won't. It's easier, and cheaper, for them to just send you a new one.
They replaced all the frames on our Glock 22 models last week. None of our pistols had malfunctioned, but a few had cracked somewhere else, so they replaced all of them. My SN is the same, except it has a 1 before the letters. Instead of my SN starting with an E, it now starts with a 1, the following numbers being the same.
Give them a call. They're good people to work with. I hope this helps.

Sure glad I don't own any Tupperware guns![:D]

If you get the right CSR, and he/she talks directly with production, I don't see why they can't give you a frame w/your ### and destroy the old one.
It just makes "sense". But management will see it another way. You've got to be persistant (a pain in the wazoo...; if necessary)0 -
Dan Wesson destroyed a factory screwed up frame that i had, built me a new one and put the same #'s on it. It seems it would be alot less paperwork. 0 -
I know some plastic framed gun manufacturers will keep a s/n for a customer. Cavalry Arms is one. I don't know about Glock though. Try it and let us know.

If they issue a new serial number, wouldn't that entail going through the registration process again? 0 -
From what I understand from some of the other forums I participate in (namely GlockTalk) if you send a gun to Smyrna GA they'll give you a new frame with a different number. I also understand you can have the frame sent back to thier headquarters in Austria and they can replace the frame AND you keep the number. I'd sure look into that.
Kdub, don't forget many steel and alloy frame guns had cracked frames too. Does the name Colt sound familiar? (Delta Elites in particular).
The 10mm - either you've got it, or you don't get it...0 -
Where on the Glock frames are these cracks showing up?
Replacing the injection molded plastic frames should cost $.45
not $45. The internals need not be replaced.0
