Erfurt Luger
Was asked by a friend to give him some info on his luger. It's a typical WW1 P08 with a chamber stamp I can't identify. It's marked 1918/20, the "20" being half the size or less of the "1918". Anybody seen this stamp? I've seen 1918 and double date 1918 - 1920. I guessed it was a 1920 police re-work but couldn't find this particular stamping listed. Any info much appreciated! Recoiless

A friend has a Erfurt Luger, double stamped 1918-1920, matching numbers, in pretty good condition. She wanted to know what it was worth so I found it in the Gun Blue Book and was able to find what I think is the price range, about 90%. The only variable is that it is nickle, (or chrome), plated. I suspect this drastically reduces the value of the gun. Even if the gun is in good shape otherwise, what does the fact that it is plated do to the value? Drop it to 60% or lower?[?] 0 -
Ralph, Thanks for the quick reply. I kinda figured the nickel plating would hurt the price but wasn't sure how much. Sort of like on the Antiques Road show when someone brings in a piece of furniture that has been refinished, a major drop in value! 0 -
