Max is no longer commercially loaded, so you either pay $40-50 a box for ammo when you can find it or you reload. 223 you can find ammo anywhere.

You may find the max bbl. is more liability than asset.

$350-400 would be my estimate, but values change from region to region.

If you only have time to do two things so-so, or one thing well ... do the one thing!

The 357 maxi can be pricey if you don't reload. Of course you can also shoot 38 Spec, 357 Mag and 360 DW from the same barrel. Check out http://www.danwessonfirearms.com/ for some of the ammo just click on the ammo and brass section.

Thanks for the reply on my questions. The also game me two boxes of 357 max loaded ammo, and I reload most of my shells anyway. I was wondering if any one knew of some loads for the 357 max for that application, and how hot can I load the .223 as much as a good bolt action or is the pressure to high then?
    Thanks again for any replies

The as long as it is in good shape, the 223 can be loaded as hot as any boltgun. The 357max is a good whitetail round. Both barrels in good shape your looking at around $250, but that all depends on what someone will give you for them.
