9mm Largo Question
I have a Star 9mm largo. My question is that I have heard that they can be converted to regular 9mm. If this is possible, where can I get the spare barrel, etc and can this even be done at all?

The "Largo" round is close to the 9x23 round. The old Astra 400 9mm Largo Pistol was not a locked breach and was not to use 9x19 Luger ammo. If the Star is a locked breach pistol you can either sleeve the chamber and ream to 9x19 or try FAC in MN and see if they have a replacement barrel for the Star. 0 -
Federal Arms Corp. was selling these barrels. 763-780-8780 or www.gunsnstuff.net 0 -
You might also ask on the 9mmlargo.com site if anyone has a FedOrd replacement or an original 9mmP barrel for a Star Model A or Super A, whichever you've got (the barrels don't interchange between the two models). Other places to ask would be the "Wanted" section here, or on the curio and relic firearms sites (I think there are at least two of them that you can find with a web search engine). The model of your Star should be stamped on the butt of the frame by the magazine well. 0 -
My last post could be confusing. I meant tell you to look for a Model "B" or "B Super" barrel in 9mmP to fit to your present "A" or "A Super" 9mm Largo. If you can find the right "B" barrel, it's no big deal to fit it to an "A" gun. Several people on the 9mmlargo.com site know how to do it and probably can advise.
You might be able to use your 9mm Largo magazine with the 9mmP barrel; some work reliably, some don't. Star 9mmP magazines are available from the usual suspects like www.ammoclip.com and other parts dealers.0 -
It has the number and by itself is the letter A. Thanks for all your advice guys. Once again you guys come through. Thanks again. 0 -
Myself and my shooting buddy each picked up a Star and then the 9mm barrel's from Federal. A cheap fun project to tinker with. I got the threaded barrel in order to play with available gizmo attachments, fake suppresor, flash suppresor etc.
A fun easy swap but the magazine lips need tinkering with for consistent 9mm feeding without jams, stovepipes, and an extra unfired round squirting out during cycling.
My buddy committed to 9mm and is happy. I stayed with 9mm Largo and I'm happy. Seems switching back & forth isn't as easy due to the magazine function. We shoot a lot of rounds though, so annoyances multiply the more you shoot. I'm a perfectionist and can't tolerate a few jams, you may be more relaxed. (No problems with the Largo set-up)
I believe he also tinkered with the extractor, 'cause it held the 9mm too tight.

What is the differance between the 9mm largo and the 9mm luger?[?] 0 -
Booger:
I am very happy with the 9mm largo. The only problem is ammunition availability. If the truth be known I like the 9mm largo better than the 9X19. I was just inquiring in case I wanted to convert to 9mm for a more plentiful supply.0 -
