The Rossi Cyclops was built to be a customized pistol at a factory price. It's every bit as good as a Smith, Taurus, Dan W. etc, but can be hard to find. Check it out. 0 -
I have a Rossi 357 with a 2" barrel. LOVE IT!

I have a Rossi 971 4" .357 that has been an extremely good gun.Regardless of what I paid it would have been a good gun so far but given what I did pay it has been excellent. Its accurate, strong, looks as good as any other 4" heavy barrel .357 and has a very smooth, consistent and even action to it.If you buy one Im sure you will feel for yours like I do for mine, some of the best money I have spent. 0 -
Rossi (now part of Taurus) made good value pistols and I would expect that to continue on under Taurus which also offers good value pistols.

Rossi was never known for consistant quality. If you got a good one, you got a good one; if you got a bad one, sell it to someone you don't like and try again. Most of the problems seem to have been with the springs and a weak crane. As a 'plinker' they offer a good value.

I am a big fan of Rossi's. But all Rossi's were not created equal.
The older ones with the round cylinder release buttons were of poor quality. I bought a dozen or so and none of the parts would interchange, they seemed to be all hand fitted. I had to tinker with each one to get it timed and working right, boy am I glad to be rid of them. On the ohter hand I would like to have them back for what I gave for them.
I don't trust the quality of the metal in their newer models, they feel so light and they don't look blued anymore.
BUT, the ones made in the 80's I think, that have the checkered wood grips are of great quality. These are the only ones I buy. These guys are almost exact S&W clones, they even have the pinned barrels which S&W dropped long ago. You can pick these up for around $125 if you shop around. I highly recommend these!
I did have a newer 971 promotional model with the solid cylinder. A buddy of mine was playing with it and slapped the cylinder closed on it and somehow bent the ejector rod? I was right there next to him and don't kow how it happened, but it practically broke the gun. I fixed it, but was scared of it after that and got rid of it.
