EXCAM RX22 - Hole drilled in Co. name under grip

Does anybody have any idea why someone would drill a hole through the left grip of this model gun so placed as to drill a mark into the frame on the name/address of the manufacturer?

I've heard of the "slam-fire" safety advisory on this model. Maybe a link to this fault?
