Springfield or Kimber
I am going to purchase a 45 acp in one of two flavors. First is a Springfield GI Micro Compact 3" barrel for less than 400$ or a Kimber BP PRO TEN II 4" barrel for around 500$. The Kimber one year warranty and the polymer frame concerns me, and the pistol is all it ever will be. I like the Springfield warranty but the pistol is barebones. I realize that it can be built up. I want to use the pistol as a CCW.

Welcome aboard,I have to say the Springfield is a better buy. Both are good 1911's but the Lifetime warranty of the Springfield is hard to over look.I have the Tactical Response Model and the Loaded Model,I like them both.Good Luck!
Best!!

I appreciate it Rugster. When I bought my 9 it was a no brainer. Quite different with the 45s! Is the GI Micro the way to go or the 4" GI Champion. I'm a big guy so I think the 4" might be ok, just looking for minimal problems.

You'll be better off going with one of the Springfields unless you want to move on up in the Kimber line and of course if you do that your cost is going to rocket upwards.
If you only have time to do two things so-so, or one thing well ... do the one thing!0 -
Seriously...the kimber is an over priced springfield. The money you saved on the springfield will allow you to customize it to the specs of the kimber but with your flavor. Kimber nevertheless makes a great handgun and their name coincides with top of the line. Springfield comes close with a rep for great bang for the buck. Depends really on how much you are willing to spend and what you want to do as far as customizing the pistol.
