Mannlicher Schoenauer Mod. MC
I could really use a little help from anyone out there who is familiar with Mannlicher Schoenauer rifles. I have never owned or even handled a Mannlicher. I just acquired one and would appreciate any information as to age, desireability, value, tips etc. I cannot find any referance to this model in Blue Book.
The rifle is a model "MC" serial # 27XXX, chambered in 30-06 cal and has a 22" barrel, hooded front bead and rear two leaf folding sight. It has a half stock with ebony fore end cap and pistol grip cap, it is monte carlo style with a highly contoured cheek piece and includes 1" sling swivels. The receiver, barrel and bolt all have the same numbers. The bolt is swept back. There is a safety mounted on the right side of the rear of the receiver where it meets the wood and the safty that is at the top rear of the bolt appears to be fixed an non operable. There are double set triggers. There is a Paul Jaeger "Quick Disconnect" side mounted scope base, rings and an American made Redfield 2-7X variable scope.
The rifle is in overall 98% condition. With the exception of a minor amount of wear of the bluing on the edges of the floor plate the rifle is flawless. Thanks for any information you can give me...Jerry

Jerry, The MC model I believe is also known as the 1956 model. The sharply contoured cheek piece was not popular and they changed the stock to the MCA model, I believe it is also known as the 1961 model. You have a fine rifle with a fine scope mount system. The M-S rifles have one of the smoothest bolt actions ever made. Their drawback is slow lock time. 0 -
THANK YOU HERSCHEL
