Need Info on Savage NRA Match .22 rifle
I have this Savage NRA Match rifle which has a 25" barrel, adj. aperture rear sight, bolt action,5 shot clip, and full lenght wood stock. I can't seem to find info on it because it is marked on top of the reciever .22 short. I thought it was the model 19 NRA match gun but it shows them in .22lr only. The top of the barrel says Manufactured by Savage Arms Corp Utica.N.Y. USA Patented Nov. 28. 1905. Sep.7. 1915. Sep.4.1917. Nov. 20.1917. and then it says Savage-N.R.A. Match Rifle It has a metal butt plate with Savage logo with and Idian and rifle in hand and says Quality Trade Mark. The serial # rage is 325xx Does anyone know what exactly the story is on this gun or what it would be worth in 80% condition? Thanks

Per my references the Model 19 NRA was chambered in all 3 chamberings.
Approx. 50,000 were made between 1919 and 1937 and in excellent condition they go for $200-250+
There is a varriant known as the 19L which carried the Lyman receiver sight. They tyically go for at least $100 more. And as you mentioned adj. aperature sight, this may be what you have.

It just says .22 short on the rec. only. I just found that to be a little odd? 0 -
[:D] [}:)] [:D] they are one cool rifle i have two, marked MATCH RIFLE they also is a Sav. 19 just marked NRA ,but be careful I have bought another 19 for parts and the NRA MATCH has a different bolt, they have NRA sites and the rear is easily damaged and most guns you find will have parts missing from the rear peep. the lyman site is a 300% improvement in durability. One complete and super fine cond. will get ya $300.00 easy...love the manlichers OH Yea! [:D] [:D] [:D][;)]

Not really, as you could get all 3 22 chamberings if you were to chamber a rifle for the shortest round you would probably want to mark it. In single shots or revolvers you can fire the shorts no problem, except for changes in point of aim, overall accuracy, etc. There used to be some tube fed rifles that took all 3 as well.

I never knew or saw a reference to one of these marked in .22 short.
I have one in this serial # range,-299xx and it's marked .22lr.
An earlier model that looks the same isn't marked NRA Match and has no serial #. Also marked .22lr
It has a different bolt,- has dual firing pin and single extractor.
The later one has a single point firing pin and dual extractors.
Does the .22 short marking look to be a factory mark? Some of the factory .22lr marks are on the left side near the rear just above the edge of the stock.0 -
It appears to be marked factroy. It is marked just above the ejection port on the top of the reciever. Just to verify it is Marked NRA Match 0
