It's lead. Same as bullets. Don't know how it could hurt.

For a joke take it to the range and shoot clays it will make others look at you with a different point of view. used shot shells in everything from 22 all the way up to 45colt, never had a proplem.

Yep, used rat shot for years, just clean the same as for any lead bullets. I'm down to my last box of Remington .45acp rat loads and since they no longer make them, I'm going to have to find another source.

I load my own .38 rat shot, using shot caps & #7 shot; I like the larger size shot, as it increases the range. Never shot one beyond 25 ft, but they drop in their tracks.

It'll be fine. Fun for birds too

I've used them from a 22 up to 44 and don't believe there is a thing wrong with them. They probably don't "rub" the inside of the barrel as hard as a solid bullet.

In a revolver they are great. In a semi auto it has been problimatic to jaming in my gun. Then again it may be just fine in yours.

gap1916, try going to a lighter spring in you auto if you are talking about a 1911 in .45acp, at least when using rat shot. I use mine in a 25-2 but have shot a few in 1911 but always loaded single shot, I didn't think they would feed very well out of a mag. so never tried it.

I picked up some #11 shot a while back - I think from a member of this forum. Makes nice shot loads in any revolver I've tried. I suspect I'll need to do more if I move to warmer climates!

I have a log cabin. Lots of carpenter bees want to eat my house.
I get the Ruger Single Six and rat shot, that is some sport!
My fiancee saw me shooting bees out of the sky, she thought I was Daniel Boone.
She was bragging on me at work, some co worker ratted me out, told her I was using shot shells not bullets.
