New Elite 4200.....no verticle adjustment left!!
I just put a brand new Elite 4200 6x24 on the 6mmVLS this PM. Leupold bases and Leupold medium rings. Upon bore sighting found that to get it centered all the verticle adjustment was gone(bottomed out)! The rifle had previously had a 6x24 Target Tasco and a 6.5-20 Nikon Monarch on it that centered just about mid way in their adjusments. I took the scope off and put it on the 40X 222MAG and checked it and it boresighted pretty close to center of the adjustments on that one! After years of doing this stuff, what am I missing here?? Your thoughts please! I don't have a set of low rings to try but am sure they wouldn't allow clearence on the bell with the varmint barrel. It actually shot to zero at 100 yards but I would rather have it midway on the adjustments at 100 yards. GHD

Did you use the same rings on the Elite when it centered on the 40X? 0 -
RingsBases mounted in the same direction or 180? are they directional?

to add to V35's question ... the Leupold base and rings mentioned on the VLS ... are these the same rings that the Tasco and Nikon were in?
If you only have time to do two things so-so, or one thing well ... do the one thing!0 -
Same rings on both!! Did switch out the 2 peice Leupold bases and put on a 1 peice Leupold base, same results!!! I don't mean to be dumb here but this one makes no darn sense! So two different bases, same rings on 3 scopes, scope mounted on two different rifles.....???? GHD 0 -
Scope get dropped with out you knowing it[?] (had to ask) Send it back and get a new one? That ain't right?

FrancF, With UPS it probably was involved in a "hurling contest" at a couple freight centers along the way! There was also a NIKON 4.5-14 in the same shipment that evidently the "drop" didn't effect!!! GHD 0 -
Elimination-
We know bases are good, rings are good, boresighter is good, nothing is directional. (bases or rings)
I think the scope is bad. I hate lemons [V]

I guess we'll find out what kind of service Bushnell offers! GHD 0 -
The mystery is that the scope centered on the 40x so how can the scope be bad? 0 -
v35, That's part of the question too!!! Although I said it "centered" it was not exactly 74 clicks to center(148 clicks total) but it was at least able to have a meausure of adjustability left. I will try a set of low rings tomorrow and see what happens. At least I'll have a set of lows when the LV .204 gets here to use on the Burris 4-12 Compact!! Am thoroughly confused on this one!! I have seen holes drilled off center, machining that a second grader could have done better(RUGER comes to mind) and poor machining on bases and rings that are off. I tried to eliminate things one at a time and now I am asking questions!!! GHD 0 -
Charlie,....look at the internal adjustment numbers of the 3 scopes. The Elite has far less internal adjustment than the tasco or the Nikon. If you like the scope,..then I suggest a leupold 1 peice Long Range base which will add 20MOA to the adjustments and have you back near the center of the ~40moa internal capability of the Elite. This is the same situation with Burris Signature series scopes,..but i like them so much,..I just buy 20moa bases.
why chase the game when the bullet can get em from here?....
