I need to repair the loading gate. Anyone know how to disassemble one of these? Spring loaded lock appears to be broken.

Are you sure the ring is not secured by a screw through the frame under the trigger spring?
Again, if you can get the patent number the U.S. Patent office may supply you with a copy of the patent which should show these details.

I took out all the internal parts, trigger, trigger spring, etc etc. Screw holding trigger spring is the only internal screw. All I was trying to do was provide some info to the person who first posted the inquiry, who asked about how to disassemble the loading gate. Closed issue sofar as I am concerned. Thanks anyhow.

I had a thought as to a gunsmith who may know how to take down the loading gate: David Chicoine wrote the book "Gunsmithing Guns of the Old West". His website is www.clt.quik/bnpress/gunsmith.htm and email is bnpress@quik.com . Hope this will help. Emery

rhmc24 You got it. I went through the same thing. Must be part of the back plate. I too will not remove the staked in cyld. shaft.
