9mm - .40S&W Mags. Interchangeable???
I recently ordered 2 "Factory Beretta" mags. on this website.
I clearly specified 9mm .n my e-mail and on paper went with payment
They arrived in todays mail and are stamped .40 S&W.
Seem to fit into the pistol OK, but I am skeptical.
Should I demand a refund/exchange???
Thanks

FWIW, I have had a model 92 (9mm) and one model 96 (.40). I have used both kinds of clips in both guns. I would strongly recomend looking on the beretta owners forum www.berettaforum.net. I seem to remember this topic being discussed at length there recently. 0 -
At the moment a "hot" practice is to use 40 mags for 9mm to be able to cram in more rounds. Generally the mag. needs a little tweeking to get over some feed issues.
So for the sake of your question say you go w/ the 40 and with a little putzing you manage to get it to feed and you can then carry 2 extra rounds ... then you need the gun (as in NEED IT!) you fire 1 round and it mis-feeds ... your 12 shot special just became a single shot .......[:(]
Return the mags for the proper ones, or don't even tink of using those mags for anything but "plinkin".
If you only have time to do two things so-so, or one thing well ... do the one thing!0 -
I have several mags that are stamped 9/40. I found that you need to "play" with the lips of the mags to get the 9's to work properly. A little tweaking and they are ok, but as contenderman said, buy a nice specific 9mm mag for carry, they make them.

If they are factory mags they will work fine. The lips on the Beretta mags appear to be the same. I have used them interchangably in my 9mm and 40 Beretta pistols. The 10 round 40 will hold 14 rounds of 9mm. You just got bargin high caps. 0 -
I've never had to tweak factory mags, or Mec-gar ones either. The generic ones, though, would only take what they were rated for. Don't get the super-cheap "Eagle" brand, they are crap. I have an old Ramline one that takes 18 9mm's but won't feed .40's. None of this advise should be used for any other pistols but Beretta 92/96's. I always use factory mags for CCW.
