taurus model #

I just purchased a taurus 44 mag revolver. It is not a raging bull series. Where is the model # located. I see a small engraved number on the inside of the cylinder mount and also I see a TK number stamped on the the outside of the frame.

    Is it a 6-shot, vent rib barrel? The only other Taurus .44 Mag. I'm aware of that is currently cataloged is the Model 44.

    yes, six shot vented rib. Where would the model number be?

    All of my Taurus revolvers, currently three, are stamped with the model number inside the frame below the barrel. If you hold your revolver in your right hand with the muzzle pointing left and open the cylinder toward you the number should be visible on that portion of the frame concealed by the crane when the cylinder is closed. The "TK" number probably appears on the right side lower corner of the frame above and forward of the triggerguard, and is the serial number.

    I see the number 3870. I hope this is the model. It appears to be written by a hand engraver sort of. It is on the frame and the crane part.
