a buddy of mine has a sioux game bag???, fringed beaded rig you throw over a horse that was handed down the family from his dad's great grandad about the 1870's if i have the story correct. what procedure & who would you hire to get an accurate definition & value of this item. thankx

  I need the name of someone to evaluate a Scottish pistol, a flint lock muzzle loading pistol. No name visable on the pistol.

  Not sure where you live, but if there is a museum within a reasonable drive you may want to give them a call and see if you can setup an appt. to visit them.
  
  Next would be a local historical society. They may not have the expertise "in house" but they generally have a pretty good network of resources to call on.
  
  Then there is the internet ... just did a Google search for Western Artifact Appraisals and came up with hits ... so you might want to start there.
  
  Organize your notes on what is known about the item and make a few digital images that give a good visual spread on the piece.
  
  
  
  If you only have time to do two things so-so, or one thing well ... do the one thing!
