Is $150 a fair price for SKS(china)? It's in good/very good condition and comes with an after market folding stock, a bi-pod and a 30 rd. mag (plastic) It also includes the original clip, 10 stripper clips and wood stock. I've seen over 1,000 rounds fired through it and it seem reliable. Should I pick it up?
PS - and no I'm not in California.0 -
Good buy take it![:)]
The china ones command a higher price i would lose the 30r clip though0 -

??? It's a good price, but I have to disagree about the Chinese commanding a premium. They were one of the most mass-produced, imported, and marketed SKS rifles and they tend to be lower-priced and not as collectable. The Romanian and Russian ones tend to command a bit of a premium and until the recent influx (or tidal wave) the Yugo was a rarity and was quite collectable. The only Norincos that command any kind of premium are the paratrooper models (16" barrel), the SKS-M/D (designed to take AK47 mags), the Sino-Soviet rifles (early Chinese rifles made with Soviet tooling and supervision), and the stamped receiver rifles. The regular 21" Norinco is rather common except for a few oddities such as being made at a rare factory, etc...

$150 may be a little to the high side, try and get them down a bit. But if they are firm and you like the rifle do it.
As for the plastic mag ... use it for fun stuff till it fails, but don't use it for other, more serious, applications such as home defense.

Yeah, I'd be buying a 50 rd.hard mag if I bought it. The plastic one jams about every 6 rounds and looks like it should go on a cap gun. As for home defense I can't hardly see myself hopping out out bed in my under ware at 3 AM to shred 30 rounds into some intruders or the neighbors cat if it happens to knock over a few garbage cans. I'd just blow their kneecap off with my desert eagle [:D]

I bought mine(Norinco)to have fun with.
Seems to me that only in rare instances
would any of them be all that "collectable".

I see none under $200 at my local shops and pawn dealers with no accessories.
Sounds like a steal.

the chinese milled sks's do command a premium but the forged ones go for a little less...i went to a big show yesterday and no chinese was under $200..only the yugo's were..i have two milled chinese (milled bolts trigger guards and screw in barrels) and the quality is very nice on these..that package is well worth the money....never seen a stamped reciever one so if anyone has a pic of one please post it..thanks tom 0 -
answered my own question..here is a site that shows the stamped sks reciever...wow...www.simonov.net/howiestamp.htm 0 -
FYI--went to the Roseburg, Oregon, gunshow today. There were probably a dozen Chinese SKS rifles, none under $200 with about $235 being the average (one N.I.B. for $250), one Romanian for $265, and several Russians none of which were under $300. There was also one Yugo "unissued" For $250, which was a joke as they are available for $149 from ads in the Shotgun News. So, in summary, your deal sounds good to me. 0 -
Wow! I had always assumed my SKS was stamped, but after looking at it, I see it is milled. Why the big price jump? I think I paid aroud $120 for mine a couple of years ago. 0 -
What's the difference between stamped and milled? So basically one version is just stamp formed and the other is milled from solid pieces? 0 -
You got some good info from the posts , but..... down to bussiness.
You want a $150 toy ..... go for it.
You have seen it shot or shot it?
If you don't have one of any type.... just get it.
The fun factor and cheap ammo rate pretty good. I think they are even 'fun' to clean. Simple / loose / but shoot on and on and on. Everybody needs at least one !
If we do not hang together we will certainly hang separately.0
