    .17 = 4.31mm

    .177 caliber is .177 of an inch and .17 caliber is .170 of an inch. One inch equals 25.4 milimeters.

    So .17 caliber is equal to 4.318 mm (25.4 X 170/1000 of an inch)
    AND .177 caliber is equal to 4.4958 mm (25.4 X 177/1000 of an inch)

    I hope the math is right. Good Luck

    There seems to be quite a bit of interest in the 17 HMR...but with the cost of ammo, I wonder if it might not soon run the course of the now infamous 5mm Remington cartridge. Anyone seen one of those rifles lying around anywhere? [8] They would make a very interesting conversation piece to hang on the wall.

    Just because I'm paranoid doesn't mean they're not shooting at me!

    bobski, Don't know why you needed that little bit of info but BB's are .177 and the bullets used in the 17 caliber rifles(17 Rem, 17HMR, etc) are only .172! Keep that in mind when doing your figuring! GHD

    Hello to all,
    Im new here but I have to put my word in, Robin is correct on the caculation to convert from standard to metric, I use it every day as a machinist. You can use the caculation to convert any decimal equivlant to metric for mesurment. Just remember 25.4 and you have it.
