So being a novice I just want to know if I did ok on this gun.. I picked it up at a yard sale and was just wondering the approx price this is worth. It has all the right marks and low serial (below 1000000) but is missing a few parts. Let me know all you guys know. How do you post pics to this forum??[img][/img][img][/img]

    Clouder,

The sling swivel is just above where the butt of the bayo. attaches, not on the barrel shield.

The last M-12 TG I had, sold for 950 to a friend (about 8 years ago). It was in good++ condition, and was one that had gone through Anniston Arsenal for a rebuild. Also, it was a 1945 year.

Depends on condition, blue or parkerized, wood finish, markings, ord. bomb on barrel, etc.

    Clouder,
someone is making repo barrel shields for these guns,I remember reading about this and they stated you could not tell the difference from original, blued or parkerized finish matched good to original also. A search of the net should find them.

    clouder...
The bayonet lug on the Winchester trenchgun is riveted to the heat shield...The whole assembly (which has the front sight and sling swivel attached to the lug)is attached to the barrel by sliding the bayonet lug over the barrel (which has a thicker wall thickness than a standard model 12 barrel and three grooves near the muzzle)and attaching it with three screws that go from one side of the lug to the other through the three grooves... The depth of these three grooves is almost as deep as the wall thickness of a standard barrel..Thus... A "US" marked receiver, with a "flaming bomb " marked barrel having a front sight and a standard thickness barrel is most likely not a "trenchgun", but a "riot" gun ...BIG DIFFERENCE IN VALUE!!!!!!!!!
