CZ 27 late war question
Just picked up a CZ 27 in very nice shape, with FNH slide for a really good price. Haven't had a chance to take it to the range, but it is a really neat little pistol.
One thing that I did notice was that the finish work on the pistol was very rough, like most late war pistols of the Third Reich.
This leads me to the question. The serial number on the slide does not match the frame; I knew this going in, and I do like to shoot my guns, so I'm not bothered from that standpoint, but I am curious; 1. is there a reference out there that has dates for serial numbers for these pistols? 2. Were these, like other pistols at the close of the war, assembled from Mix & match parts? Apart from an obvious explanation (someone cobbled together a cz 27 from parts), I am curious because the grinding marks on the slide make me think that this was a late war pistol, and possibly thrown together with factory parts. Any information woudl be greatly appreciated.

I've owned a number of the C Z 27's made during the German occupation of Czechoslovakia. All of them had matching serial numbers, even the late war production.
This is a link to similar one on Pancho's excellent site.

My WAG, your pistol was assembled after the war from parts.

Jan Still's Excellent AXIS PISTOLS list all variations and gives a timeline of manufacturing changes. You might browse through that for an idea of when your weapon (or parts) was assembled.
