OLD SHOTGUN?

Not really enough to give an answer. I'd be willing to bet, though, that if you looked under the barrels you'd see a "ELG" proof mark.

That makes the gun Belgian and a knockoff of the real Parkhurst. I sure hope I'm dead wrong but chance is on my side. And if I'm correct... Your gun isn't worth very much.

Carder's book shows it to be a Belgian knock-off.

There was a English maker by the name of William Parkhurst.

The Belgian's produced a damascus barreled, hammer gun, with the name "WM. Parkhurst" engraved on it.

parkhursts were medium grade shotguns that were pretty well built. i had one in 24ga. mine had steel bbls with fake damascus pattern. i enjoyed it. i sold it 5 years ago for 800.00. depending on the condition will determine its worth. most common problem is broken hammers from dry firing.

Medium grade compared to what? And let's not forget... A 24 ga. is a rare bird and a 12 ga. is common. Don't confuse the man when you compare apples to oranges.

And, Yes I know... Nothing was said about gauge. Experience and chance leave me willing to bet that it is!
