Scope Mounting a FAL
I recently bought an DSA FAL and then bought a Tapco slip on dust cover weaver style mount. Does the rear sight have to come off to mount a scope? I have a 3-9x40 scope and even with high rings, the scope contacts the rear sight. Must I use a compact scope? Has anyone mounted a scope on an FAL that can give me some options?
Thanks for any input!

I have one of the tapco gen 3 mounts on mine with a 3-9x40 full size. I used Tapco's see thru rings and have just enough clearance for the rear sight. You might try moving the scope rearward a little. The mount works really well, but is heavy, and my only gripe is that every time I add something to the rifle it gets heavier. I am up to 14 lbs empty.

Thanks for the info, I think I will try the see thru rings to get some more height. I have the gen 3 mount as well, and it appears to be well made.
