TSW is double action only, has S&W tactical features including equipment rail. And about $150 more expensive.

If you only have time to do two things so-so, or one thing well ... do the one thing!

If it's double action only, why does it have a hammer spur? Item #16027566

    Thanks, Grizztribefans@sssnet.com

Thanks for the information. I should have asked you also how dependable the gun is and is it worth the $? Or is that a personal preference question?

Mine is just the 5906. It's a great shooter, real dependable, but it's heavy when loaded since it's a full size all stainless pistol. It goes with the dog and I everytime we hit the woods. I bought mine as a police trade in. $400 out the door, gun w/3 stainless hi-cap mags.

    Thanks, Grizz
tribefans@sssnet.com
Can't find any info saying it is DAO, but you'd know C. Man.

S&W calls it a TDA - Traditional Double Action, as opposed to a DAO.

(While you are there, you can also download the apparel and Home Furnishings catalogue.)

I can't stand such big writing on a gun. It's a walking advertisement for S&W, kinda cheesy.

Para makes DAO pistols with regular combat hammers. You'll hear guys say "I want to see the hammer drop". I have a bobbed hammer on two pistols, a Para, and a Ruger, and they work fine.

Also had an AMT with an internal firing pin...no "conventional" hammer.

Originally (pre-2000) TSW meant 'Tactical Smith & Wesson' and was a Performance Center gun only. Now it is little more than a standard model that has had the slide and frame matched and machined as a unit with oversize frame rails and an accy rail attached. The TSW series does seem to have better quality control and fitting than the standard model but I don't know if it is enough to justify the extra cost. Hope this helps.
