.303 Ammo Question
I ran across some ammo today that I assume is surplus from somewhere. It is packaged in a brown box with 32 cartridges.
The box has the following printed:
CIA (P) MK7
POF
Stamped with the date of 30 Mar 1968D.
Do any of you know anything about this ammo? Is it corrosive?

The ammo in question was made in Pakistan in 1968, it is standard MK 7 ammo, 174 gr bullet, most likely is is corrosive. 0 -
I would not shoot this in any rifle that I cared about. "Paki" ammo is typically poor quality and there is the possibility of it being corrosive, even in 1968 ammo lots.
If you only have time to do two things so-so, or one thing well ... do the one thing!0 -
Thanks. My gut said no, and I'm glad I listened. 0 -
The corrosiveness isn't a problem as you just run a few patches of hot water through but the ammo ITSELF is garbage. Generally goes click..... bang. Even if you hold it really steady, odds are you'll flinch; and even the stuff that goes bang reliably isn't too accurate.

I have used this ammo and aside from being corrosive (just clean propperly) I have had no problem with it. I even shot a match (no I did not win) and never experienced the delayed fire described above. Always beware of the "I heard it was......". Get the information from one who hase used it personally.
Have fun, be careful!
