"Pre-Garcia" gun in a rare caliber. These are sought after if in Very Good or better condition as a collector item. The ones in lesser condition are great "shooters" as were all of them, but most get little use because of the collector value. Generally priced in the market place between $800 and $1100 depending on condition.

They had a "Peep Type" rear sight which has a screw that tightens it onto the top of the receiver where it is machined for such. The base of the sight is slightly tapered to match the taper on the top of the receiver. Hope this helps a little.

I would have went for the more common Vixen. But defer to RP.

Actually, I believe these are pretty much identical to the "Vixen" but they aren't marked as such........been a while since I held one and the memory may not be exact........

    MFI and all,

Take a look at this link to see if this is a close match to your rifle. The photos are pretty good for detail.

    Best.

MFI, if the rifle has a detachable magazine ("clip") it's an L46, which was, as far as I know, the earliest Sako's brought here. If it has a Mauser type magazine, it's an L461. Both are fine rifles. The L46 made the Sako reputation in the early 50's which is when I bought my first one. The rifle nononsense gave us the link to is a L461 which is the "Vixen".
    Cheers,

Yes our gun loks like the one pictured a couple of posts ago. Stock is lighter in color and condition is not as good as one pictured. We have 2 clips with the gun. Id say about 80%.

God gave us all a gift. Have you found yours yet ?

I found some more photographs of both the L-46 and the L-461 rifles. I was under the impression that the L-46 had a square bolt shroud with the safety attached to it and the L-461 had the newer round bolt shroud.
