.45 Pistol
I was thinking of purchasing a Para Ordnance .45 pistol. Can anyone give me any feedback on one ? Thanks

Fine pistols. LDA trigger, all (I believe) (LIGHT DOUBLE ACTION). This means they will only shoot in a double action mode, even the models you see with a "combat hammer" which looks like you can pull it back and cock it.
Their USA repair unit is in Sevierville; heck, if anything goes wrong, you could walk it on over and avoid Fed-Ex. Lifetime guarentee.
This D745E is DAO, even though it looks like you can shoot it single action:
Here's one of my favorites, though not CA legal; plus, the sights detract from the gun. it wants a sighting trench:
I can make one by taking a CCW745 and replacing the slide, barrel, guide rod, maybe the barrel bushing, locking lug, and if i screwed it up, a small fortune on a good gunsmith, etc...0 -
I have a Para P-16 .40 S&W once you get used to the gun they shoot great.Or that has been my experience, and their are a descent supply of Hi-cap Mags avaliable for consumers as well.
Best!!

I carry one just like the top photo in jsergovic's post. In fact--I went and checked the gun locker when I saw the photo, just to make sure it was still there![;)] I've had an off-and-on love affair with Paras for several years now, all .45s. Started with a blue P-13, then a stainless P-14, then a blue P-14 LDA, then a stainless 7:45 LDA. My hands are on the small side, but I found the double-stack frame to be manageable, and liked the idea of the extra rounds. Mine are all highly reliable and very accurate. Eventually, though, I returned to the Colt Govt. Model because the grip just felt better. Then, my employer decided no more single action semi-autos would be allowed, so the 7:45 LDA proved to be the answer for my situation--an island floating in a sea of Glocks. I'm very satisfied with it and give it a hearty "recommend".[:D] 0 -
Hey jsergovic, I live just up the road from Sevierville and did not know that the Para people had a repair facility near by. Thanks for the information. Pinhead 0 -
Gee, I also started with a P-13 with an alloy frame then went to a Stainless P-14. Both are great with NO faults, except you would have to carry "Cocked and Locked" as any single action auto. With the anti Gun establishment, would not want to set in a court room and explain how or why I carried a weapon in that state of readiness.
Have tried and do like the LDA trigger feel for a hammer down carry, but if your gonna do that, you might as well get "Glockerized". Have Glock 17 and 34's that I shoot a bunch.
Something just picked up is a S&W 4043 in Double Action Only. Needs no decocking levers, no safeties, etc. Just needs a trigger job for me to like it.
