"Signature Series"
from Colt. Or are they from Colt or from a licensee? They're great looking revolvers (I've only seen the BP types. Don't know if they make them or made them in centerfire.) Tried a web search and got a bunch of ads but no explanaition. Anyone know the story on these?

My understsanding was that the Signature Series BP revolvers were made with Italian parts and assembled in the US by a contractor under license from Colt.
That way, there are no proof marks and they can be marketed as "made in USA." I think they actually came from "Colt Blackpowder Arms", rather than Colt's Mfg.
The story goes that during the previous reincarnation of Colt BP revolvers, Colt used the same procedure, but tried to conceal the fact that they were assembled from contracted Italian parts.
They are good looking revolvers.0 -
But, for half the price you can get an Uberti that looks just as good, if not better and works just as good, if not better. In fact...their parts are probably from the same place, but I could be wrong about that.

There was a post about this about a week ago and the net result was "offshore" parts, contractor/licnesee assembled and no direct linkage to Colt Mfg., and no real collector value.
If you only have time to do two things so-so, or one thing well ... do the one thing!0
