Anyway you can post pics? How does the bore look? How is the slide to frame fit(is it loose or tight)? The price is pretty good, I would have bought it but I'm a sucker for a high power anytime. Excellent first gun, and sure to hold value well. For that price I would expect more than one magazine though. You should reasonably be able to buy it and know you'll be able to get your money back out of it if needed.

Thanks for the reply James, I plan to take it out this weekend and run a few shells through it to see if I like how it handels. I do have a digital camera, so I will take some pics and try to post them. As for the bore and slide, they seem pretty good to me, but I am by no means a expert. It only has one clip, but it does have packmayr grips and an ok zipper soft case. Any ideas on what model this might be, MkIII, MKII, Standard???

The Browning High power is a true proven classic of semi auto handguns and the older ones are very collectable. Still the question that I would have you ask yourself is weather are you likely to own more then one handgun? Next, what do you want it for? If the answer to the second question is for plinking, range work and unlikely self defense, then this is an ok buy. Still I would point out that 9mm has been pretty well overtaken in recent years in the areas of stopping power. 357mag, 40S&W, 10mm, 41mag, 44mag, 45acp in the auto or wheel gun of your choice may be a better option, especially if a hunting carry gun is part of the need. What ever the decision welcome to the forum.

When Browning went to the soft case, it seems they went to issuing a single magazine. It is an excellent pistol and I have three of different vintages and they have never failed me. I use them for primarily for carry and IDPA.

First let me welcome you to GB. You can not go wrong with a Browning Hi Power for your first hand gun. Check out the prices here to see if you are getting a good deal. There are several hand guns that are equal to the Hi-Power. If you ask about the 9mm round it fires you will get a swarm of replies. I like the 10mm round alot but that is me. Welcome again to GB. Hello again, I want to thank everyone who took time to reply to my post. The info has been very helpful. About the serial number, a few people commented about the "B" in the number, well my friend was telling me the number over the phone, and I misunderstood him the "B" should have been a "V" and would make the manufacture date in 1985. James had ask about pictures, I posted one, heres the link... http://www.pgtc.com/~dbarron/9mm.jpg . I also took the gun to another friend, who knows quite a bit about firearms. He was very impressed with the condition of this pistol. He said it looked as though it had hardly even been shot. The slide is nice and tight and the bore looks great. He said that it did not even have the parkerized finish worn off the loading ramp yet, and that if I didn't buy it he would. Well thanks again to everyone for the replys. If anyone has any additional info on the MKII's or advice, I would love to here it!

My advice would be "BUY IT" before somone else does. I too have a soft spot for the Bowning Hi-Power, but that aside you will be getting a very good deal.

Darrell, welcome to the forum. In my opinion that gun is a definite Buy Now! at that price and in that condition. Ammo is cheap and abundant; as you now know the pistol is comfortable to shoot and unless you grossly abuse or neglect the gun you will always recover your cost plus when/if you sell it. Keep it clean, lightly oiled and near at hand. Congratulations on the find.

You might want to try some other grips and see how they feel. For some reason, I personally didn't like that style of Pachmyers on the HP's.
