Workbench
Lately I've built a few single shot and blowback style pistols. I'm wondering if anyone has some good diagrams and parts lists for any workbench firearms. I'm not trying to get around any laws or anything like that. I just like the challenge of putting something together from scratch and working with it until it looks nice. Thanks in advance for any replies.

Are you building them from scratch? You know, a piece of steel, a 2x6 and a file? Or do they start off farther along than that? Have you ever built a black powder rifle, or put together a black powder gun from a kit? These can be a lot of fun, and educational. CVA used to sell kits (maybe still does) of black powder revolvers (you can learn a lot there about cylinders, hands, etc.), and if you really want to get basic you can order a copy of Dixie Gunworks catalog ($5) and buy all the basic components for a rifle and create your own.[:D] 0 -
Basically from scratch. Tubing and a file for most componants but the mags and barrels I buy. A lot easier that way. Basically I get the longest barrel I can find that doesn't have any type of taper and cut and recrown it into several different barrels. I've built a bunch of black powder kits but now I'm more into blowback pistols and such. I've made a few breach load type pistols too. I'm just looking for any new ideas or plans. Like I said before I'm not trying to do anything illegal, just trying to find some new projects. Thanks for any help.

Your best bet would be to go over to the Paladin Press site,
http://www.paladin-press.com/default.aspx
Due a search for the books and videos by a gentleman named Bill Holmes.
His books are a goldmine, on the subjects your interested in and seeking information on.

JESSE1579, Can you post some pics of some guns that you have made? I would like to see your work. 0 -
So would I - pics please. Not many people have the skill to produce a firearm even from those biginnings. 0 -
I'll get the camera out this weekend and try and take some pics. Basically I was cleaning a few of my pistols one day and I realized that they weren't very complicated. You could make a pretty reasonable (not as ergonomic though) reproduction of a ruger mark II or I out of round and square tubing. So far I've only managed blowback and single shots. I was wondering though. I live in Alabama and I don't ever plan on selling anything I've made (took way to much time to build) ,but is there are any laws or regulations on homemade firearms? I haven't been able to find any so far, but I don't want to break any laws. I'm building a 9mm semi auto carbine that I plan on really spending a lot of time on and I don't want something that'll get me in trouble if I go out and shoot it.
Thanks,
