Velocity of 380 - will it expand?

Does a 380 have enough velocity to benefit from a high expansion bullet? Like a Magtec gold, Extreme shock - or is a regular FMJ gonna do the same. Can a Kel Tec handle the +p rating for a defense load. (not target practice but just for that emergency couple of shots you may need at the ATM machine at 4:00am.)

    If you are going to carry a 380 in a small platform like the Kel-Tec, I would limit my defense ammo to Glaser Safety Slugs or MagSafe ammo.

    Im just getting into Keltecs and got three great references on this board;
    KTOG, www.1bad69.com and The Keltec Range.Find them with Google.
    There's a weeks' worth of reading there and all your Keltec questions will be answered. I think the answer to your question will be yes but not a steady diet of the +P loadings. Since they're on the smaller, lighter frame the 380s are claimed to be brutes in the muzzle flip department, heavy bullet loads need to be avoided for better control.
    I get the impression from these sites, Keltecs are a cult thing.

    Afraid I have to go with the first 3 posts. Glasers are the way to go with these small packages.

    Glasers are great defensive rounds, but...don't you hate there's always that 'but?,' they are not very penetrative.(big word for me, lol) They won't penetrate even an indoor house door, and could be defeated by a bad guy wearing a heavey leather jacket.

    I'd suggest after the first two rounds of Glasers, Federal Magna-Shocks, or Winchester hollow points.
