    Pictures would really help.

A lot of times on older military guns the folks who aquired them removed the United States Property markings from them because they feared getting caught with Govt. Property.

Deprnding on the gun abd Ser. No. it may be worth restoration.

Value as is would be 400 to 800 dollars depending on condition.

I measured it and cut it twice, and it's still too short!

How do you know it was made in 1913? If by "It says it was made in 1913" you mean that that's the last patent date on the slide, we'll need a lot more information. We'll need the serial # and all other markings on the gun, type of finish, etc. A picture would be helpful.

If this, is indeed, an all original Colt Government Model made in 1913 (serial # C1900 to C5400) you've got a pretty valuable pistol.

From the Blue Book (in 95% condition)

    C1900 through C4500 - $4,000

    C4500 through C5400 - $1,200

Between 1912 and 1925 Colt produced 138,532 "Civilian" pistols in teh S/N range of C1-C138532.

So if you have a letter "C" preceding your s/n you may have a valuable pistol ... or you may have a fake.

Further determination can not be made in the medium as the pistol would require hands on inspection.

If you only have time to do two things so-so, or one thing well ... do the one thing!
