Puma 454 Casull rifle
Anyone have one of these? Is that recoil pad really necessary? Can you shoot 45 Colts out of this rifle. My local dealer has one on the rack for a decent price and I am considering it. I can't imagine the kick would justify that thick recoil pad and it would be alot quicker to shoulder without it.

i've got 2 of these (.357 & .44/40) nice rifles. yes you can shoot .45 colt in them; you might not need the pad, but it will get your attention with out it. 0 -
I paid $369.98 for mine. I haven't tried .45 LCs & oddly I can't find the owner's manual to see if they say anything. The only problem I could forsee might involve feeding problems.
The recoil pad is a very good idea. The light weight of the gun & the small size of the rear of the buttstock make it quite worthwhile.
Stock design is a significant factor in perceived recoil.0 -
we had the stainless stell .454 here at the shop briefly. it will accomodate the .45 long colt. the fit and finish were very good, and the wod was exeptional. it went out the door very quickly. nice gun overall, but i would not have chosen stainless. best regards, mike.
