Which Gunsprings for a new EAA Witness?
I recently purchased a new .40 Eaa Witness Compact, in wonderfinish, and I really like it, but it has a few problems. It has a very light hammer drop, which results in some (1 in about 75 shots) not firing the primer. It also has quite a bit of frame slap, and has some minor primer wipe, where the firing pin is leaving a mark on the primer from dragging while the spent casing is trying to eject. I was wondering if anybody else has had similar problems, and what they did to fix them. I've thought of putting in heavier hammer and recoil springs from Wolff Gunsprings, and I would love some input if this is the right thing to try to fix the problem. Thanks, Scott

Have you tried contacting E.A.A. or Tangfolio about it? I'll bet they'd sell the stuff you need and can tell you about the primer hits. I just bought a new Glock 20 and it came with 2 spent cartridges that were fired at the factory and both of them have primer drag but my original G20 doesn't do it.
The 10mm - either you've got it, or you don't get it...0 -
I'll sure go with Bambihunter's remarks on your problem. If the gun is new and under warranty let the manufacturer or their designated USA repair station correct it. But, if for some reason you don't want to do that, using Wolff springs is a good idea. I'd go one step farther than just ordering a kit. Call Wolff and explain the problem over the telephone. Sometimes (often) they have already learned of a specific problem and have a special spring to solve the condition that is not advertised. 0 -
Amen to above ...
Why fix the mfg. problem on a new gun. Go back to the shop you bought it from and follow the warranty process. And the reason I say go back to the shop where you purchased it is because as an FFL they can ship it cheaper than you can and saving you a couple bucks is the least they should do for you.
If you only have time to do two things so-so, or one thing well ... do the one thing!0
