Remington 550 1 SN location

I have a Remington 550 1 .22 semi-auto rifle and cannot find the SN. Must have been made in the mid 1940's to early 1950s, I'm guessing. However, I cannot find the SN. Model # is stamped on the barrel, but no SN visibly apparent. Any ideas?
