264 X 7 Brenneke
Can anyone tell me if Remington made a shell 264 X 7 and is it the same shell as Federals 264 X 7Brenneke. I have a Ruger Model 77 264X7 Brenneke(sp) and am having trouble finding ammo.
Tnx

Stumps13,
Are you sure that you aren't refering to the 7 x 64 Brenneke? Not that I am the end all authority on wildcats and factory ammunition but I have never read a reference to what you ask about. A close design would be the 6.5-06 or the 6.5 x 270 or the 6.5 x 7mm Brenneke which are all about the same thing since the cases are very similar.
My guess would be that the label on your rifle reads 7 x 64 Brenneke.0 -
You are right I don't know what I was thinking but the ammo in question is for the 7 x 64 Brenneke. Federal produced specific ammo for the Brenneke and Remington had ammo for the 7 x 64. Are they they same?? 0 -
Stumps13,
Yes, the ammunition is one and the same. Remington, Federal, Norma and RWS have all at one time or another loaded for the 7 x 64 (Brenneke).
Wilhelm Brenneke was a gunmaker and designer who developed several cartridges for rifles and then let manufacturers produce it. This particular cartridge was designed in 1917 and has been in continual production since then. It is very similar to the .280 Remington or the wildcat 7mm-06 but they are in no way interchangeable.
Check with Graf & Sons to see if they carry this ammunition.
