Feeding problem
OK guys and gals heres my problem.
I have a Rem. model 700 in 22-250. When I have the rifle loaded with 4 in the magazine, it feeds the first one into the chamber without any problems, but when I feed the second one into the chamber after he first one is ejected it wants to feed two at the same time.
I have tried everything that I can think of, to no avail. No matter what, it will not keep from feeding two after the first one is ejected.
Now dont tell me I should have bought a Winchester, Browning or Rugar, as I have no problems with my other 700s feeding.
Anybody have any ideas what could be causing this feeding problem.

Had the same thing going on in my 700VLS 223. I went to a score high bench rest follower. It is like a single shot; but I can reload the second round faster than clearing the jam. My 2 cents worth.

Might want try tinkering with your mag follower and/or spring... or have a gunsmith do it. I know your gun it a bolt action, but I had a similar problem with a semi-auto rifle and the magazine was the problem. -Toe 0 -
Definatly a spring problem.

IT MIGHT ALSO BE A MAGAZINE BOX PROBLEM, CHEAP TO CHANGE. 0 -
Try just putting three rounds in the magazine if it's new.Sometimes the magazine springs are a little stiff at first.--Then see if the follower slides up and down the magazine freely and straight. If it does it's probably not the magazine. If it looks ok,try changing the spring (from another gun of same type if you have one). It's the cheapest solution.......good luck........[8D] 0 -
take the mag box out,..and pinch it together some,..then reinsert it and see if that fixes it.
why chase the game when the bullet can get em from here?....

JustC: Ill have to try that.
I thought that the spring might be a little strong as well.
This only happens on the second round and no other time so it could be the spring, but Ill try them all.
Thanks all[^]
