I don't understand why you say that an integrated AR upper/suppressor saves a tax stamp. The integrated upper requires 1 stamp; so does the can that you screw onto a threaded upper. A threaded upper does not require a tax stamp.

Any can with standard threads can be screwed onto any gun of the same caliber. However, every semi-automatic needs to be "tuned" for the can that will be used on it. That is because the can changes the gas/recoil impulse, & the gun may not function reliably without altering the recoil spring(s). Cans should be bought from a Class III repair facility capable of doing the tuning.

    Currently own 2 in .45acp & 1 in .308.
The 45's are Sionics & Coastal
    The .308 is a Coastal
All 3 are removeable/seperate cans, with removable washer type baffles. Wiper type cans are a hassle & the BATF considers "wipers" in possesion, by themselves as "construction", which is a no no.
Some mfg's do sealed units that are cleaned by running solvent thru them. The baffle type, you just unscrew the endcap and clean the baffles & reassmble.
As far which is the most quite, all vary, based on the type of construction & maker.
You cant go wrong by buying a quality product like Bowers, Gemtech, AAC,AWC, etc.
Best to look at what each mfg has to offer and make your informed decsion from there.
If I were you & wanting a SBR with a can, I would go with the detachable, that it can be used on your other toys.
Be advise a suppressor is the quietest on the 1st round, each round there after goes up around 1db per shot.
    Have fun
