s&w 1000 interchangability

I picked one up cheap for my daughter to enter the clay sports and I need to shorten the stock and add a recoil pad. Anyone know of a current production gun that the stock would match up? (I hate to chop the current stock).

    Welcome to the forums. www.e-gunparts.com bought up all the stocks when S&W and Mossberg discontinued them. The REM.1100 stock looks like it could be made to work. I've been wanting to try and see on mine.BTW...check to see if the piston shock absorber is intact before you shoot it(a black rubber washer under the piston)gunparts has a schematic too.

    as trap55 said, mossberg 1000 and s&w 1000 are the same gun. the stocks are unique and others wont fit it. so the answer is no. others wont fit. the wood to receiver angle is different.

    Hello, TRAP55 I checked on my pump 1000 and the 870 stock will fit but I either have to get a longer bolt or have a spacer made (I would rather have the spacer) due to the internal configuration of the 870 stock. Thank you for all of your help with my 1000 problems.

    SUPREME ONE, i was thinking of e-mailing you to see how that came out. Would the 870 stock bolt work? Shows how busy i've been, i haven't had time to play with the inter-changability of those stocks! I'm glad i could help. TRAP

    BOBSKI maybe right, thats why i had asked you about the fit with the recoil plate between the stock and frame. BOB,glad to see you feeling better, Supreme's 3000 is that 870 clone we talked about. When next to each other, they look identical.BOB, any luck finding those H/S mod.B grips?

    stock face and receiver face must be hand fitted to avoid shock transfer to the wood. widths must match too. if you dont fit it perfect, bing...it cracks. and if the angle isnt the same, the gun will be way off when you shoulder it. you are right, the 3000 is the pump. is that now. btw...yep, im up and moving. at least i can see the keys now. before, the drugs i was on wouldnt allow me to look at a key and know what it was! did you get my email? im down in va.. as we speak. im on my way back to the navy. i got called. it aint gonna be long. i only got 2 weeks left on fleet reserve duty and got a scar across my belly!

    Thanks everyone. I've never modified a stock but I think if someone points me in the right direction I could get it done. If I take 2" of of the stock is there a recoil pad that is made for a "chopped" stock, any suggestions? Thanks again.

    Hello, I have extra bearing plates to fit the stock to the gun, the 870 bolt is 1/4X28 and the Smith & Wesson 1000P is M8-1.25 so no, it won't fit without an adapter. I am going to have an adapter made (like on the rear of the 870) to lengthen the Smith & Wesson bolt and use that one because of the larger diameter. I also used a Mossberg 500 (12 Gauge) on a J.C. Higgins model 20 and it doesn't fit perfect but it works just fine (it is a bit wider and lower from the top of the receiver, I also had to make the slot for the rear of the trigger gaurd longer). More to follow when completed on the Smith & Wesson.
