Colt Python help

CHGOTHNDER
Does anyone know where to find the dates of manufacture for the Colt Python line, just picked up 6 in an estate sale from 2" to 6" PLMK or email me at CHGOTHNDER@aol.com

    Serial numbers are necessary to determine manufacture, (shipping date), of these gun. However, there are only records up to the mid 80's available for serial numbers. Colt is the only source for dates of manufacture for guns made after about 1985. Several folks here are able to give you this information if you provide serial numbers of the gun(s) in question..................

    I believe these are from the 70's from the serials ie: K01*** all are 1 letter and 5 numbers.

    Others are EB8****, F7****, V7****, V7**** I think this may be a set as the numbers are VERY close in sequence.

    EB8XXX = post 1985? (could be E8XXXX?, which would be 1975)
    F7XXXX = post 1985?

    The E8 prefix is 1975 as stated by tomh.All the others are post 1978 as my book goes thru 78 and the others are not listed. You can probably find out thru Colt or the Buffalo Bill Historical Center firearms museum in Cody,Wyoming if no one else comes up with better info.......[8D]
