Dragunov:russian, or chinese?
I've been looking for a dragunov for awhile, and came across this one on gunbroker..
http://www.gunbroker.com/auction/ViewItem.asp?Item=15937147
I've got a few questions, and if anyone has the correct answers, I'll be most gratefull:
7.62X51 ...shouldn't this be X54r? Is that the 1st sign it isn't russian?
2.)
bayonnete handle is a different color that the rifle wood...incorrect bayonnete for this rifle?
3.)
in the 3rd picture, on the recvr there is something CA stamped, I assume this is the US importer? Also, on the grip, there is a number...i didn't think the serial #'s were carved into the stock/grips?
4.)lastly...in the 5th photo, it is stamped 'norinco, ndm....made in china'
I guess that should be the #1 clue that this is a chinese rifle, not russian....hm...

ok, so it is chinese.
is this the dreaded .308 I've read about?0 -
It is a 308 chambered Dragunov. This is the later verison of the Norinco (Chinese) copy of the Russian SVD. The way to tell the difference between calibers is the shape of the Mags. The 7.62x54R has a slightly curved mag while the 308 has a straight mag. The bayo looks like a the model for the AK but they are pretty much interchangable. I have the 7.62x54R version of the gun pictured if interested.
