which citori to buy?
I am looking for an O/U in 12 gauge for mostly skeet but some other clays and bird hunting. The fit of the Browning Citoris fit me, those that fit me best and are not astronomically priced are the 525 field, Lightning/Whitelightning, and SX Skeet. This is a lot of money for me to spend and I don't want to regret the purchase or trade it off for a loss later.
Of these models what are the differences, advantages, or disadvantages amongst them?
I would like a 30" barrels but would be fine with extended choke tubes with 28" also.
The Beretta 682-686 and Weatherby O/U fit well also but I have heard more support for Browning. Feel free to comment on choices you feel would be wiser.

stay away from 30" bbls. get 28". get the classic grade 1 blued steel citori skeet with the traditional high vent rib and invector chokes. it will serve you well. ive owned numerous ones. stay away from lightweight guns. you want a little weight to help you with your follow thru. buying a citori is an investment. you will get your money back if you take care of it. common flaw in citoris is cracked stocks at the grip. choice in grain is usually the blame. straight grain is stronger than marbled. compare. extended tubes is a gimmic. just get plain invector chokes. the 682 is another good gun. ejector problems are the first thing that will surface. 686 is just a fancier grade of the same gun. weatherbys are skb's, another good gun. a little pricy, otherwise, good. it has the strongest of the lock ups. its a top lock instead of a box lock. beware, skbs are flat shooters,(line of sight). citori's and 682's have a little float in the sight plain. cave man talk....float good, flat bad. flat good for hunting. flat bad for skeet. its an easy way to remember! citoris are plentiful. browning goes for the first sale and they win it with their reputation. odds are, you will move up in class and buy a nicer one later on. this is where you get caught. try selling a citori. they are a dime a dozen used. (consider a used one and really save money.) if you keep it all your life, it will pay for itself in service. thats how you come away with a great investment. hope this helps.
