M1A question
Can anyone tell me what the difference is between a USGI flash suppresor that comes on the M1A/M14's and the muzzle brake/stabilizers that are offered on the aftermarket? I see the M1A Scout comes with one, but I'm not sure why. Does it help ballistics or is it one of those "CA legal" pieces of nonsense?

SA Inc developed the "muzzle brake" for sale in CA, as "flash suppressors" are banned there. Many of their rifles can be ordered with a flash suppressor or muzzle brake, your choice.
With the exception of "tuning" muzzle brakes like Browning's B.O.S.S., muzzle brakes do not affect accuracy. However, they reduce muzzle climb & make a follow-up shot easier.
