Longines Pistol
I have an older pistol, shown as Longines, made in
Spain. Proof marks are standing lion and a shield
with X inside and a crown on top. This is believed
to be proof house of Eibar. Seems to be 7.85(?) cal.
Model Automatic Pistol. Anyone have any info lre this?

The cartridge it's chambered for is the 7.65mm, also known as the .32 Automatic.
It was made by the Cooperativa Obrera in Elbar Spain, according to my book, probably sometime after the First World War.

Your pistol should actually read 7.65mm (.32 ACP) and the Longines was pretty much a straight copy of the 1910 Browning, slightly simplified to cut costs. If I remember these Longines pistols were the sole product of some sort of workers co-operative in Eibar, Spain. The actual name escapes me but was something like Coopertive Obera and they went into production starting around the end of WWI. I've only seen a few of these Longines pistols and they appeared to be better made than the typical Spanish made Browning knock-offs so I'd guess an example in nice shape could bring over $150.
