If you plan on using it for personal defence...buy something different. We use one and now it it is taught to shoot more than once at your target. Enought said!!!!

Granted they have worked for personal defence....however, choose an AR 10 in a 30 Cal. The 308 or 7.62mm will take down anything you would reseaonably would to in N.America to include home invaders. With less ammo be sent down range.

  What is the aproximate velocity loss with the 223 in a 20 inch barrel versus a 26 inch barrel.

  If the loads are the same then there is not enought for the animal to feel the difference. I would venture out and say 10fps per inch.

  All barrels will vary due to differences chambers,uniformity of barrel,etc. and will develop different pressures.The only way to know for sure is to clock it, but a good rule of thumb is approx. 30fps per inch of bbl length for non magnum velocities(under 3000 fps) and approx. 40fps per inch of bbl length for cartridges that are over 3000 fps..............[8D]
