Pick a quality lower and buy a good "kit" and build it yourself. If you do this, and de-bug it, then no AR will ever be a mystery to you ever again. The installation of the trigger group is the toughest part. There are "how to's" all over. I would recomend the video from AGI, the american gunsmithing institute. It is probably a little pricey, but, will cover just about everything. Quality lowers would be from Olympic Arms or Bushmaster, maybe others. Kits can be easily found in the Shotgun news and should be compared as to manufacture, finish and price.

    Hi Larry,
Be aware of the difference between Milspec lowers, and "matched" lowers. Milspec will work with any other milspec part, the Matched sets only fit the other matched half. The fire control parts are relatively straight forward, and with good instruction not hard to do. I'll see if I can email you some stuff. Watch people that bad mouth certain brands or companies, its usually hear-say. I have Cavalry arms and Model 1 sales stuff and have no problems, bad many will declare them crap. Email me some details on what youre looking to do. Here we go again, huh?[:D]

go to www.ar15.com My suggestion is to get a JT kit (excellent quality) (www.jtdistributing.com) and either a Rock River, bushmaster, or olympic arms lower and build it yourself. The upper half will be assembled and ready to go, and there are directions on assembeling the lower on the ar15 site. Once you have the kit and lower, you should have a rifle in under 2 hours....

Just bite the Bullet and buy a Used Bushmaster, They can be had
in like new condition for the price of one of the No-frills brands
or kits. The kits are a Good idea if you like the idea of building one yourself but what usualy happens is you get started building it then adding and adding and adding until you are over the cost of a good factory piece.Just my experience.........

    BUSHMASTER [:D]

    Thomas Jefferson, of Virginia:
"Laws that forbid the carrying of arms. . . disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes. . . Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man."

The Olympic Arms are great rifles, a little less expensive than the Bushmaster,
    and are guaranteed for life.
