Mixed info here, or maybe lack of info might be closer.

Yoke serial number does not track to 38/200 production, and while that s/n range would apply to the M&P of 1902 1st change, those revolvers were chambered in 38 special.

Your description of the "butt" s/n is not clear (to me) if the number is on the grip or the grip strap. If it is on the grip that makes a difference.

The 99xxxx s/n does fit with the range for the 38/200.

However, you don't mention any proof marks and if it ended up in British Service it would have them. On the barrel, often stamped no to neatly would be the "crown" and the proof info then on the frame, left side above the yoke should be another "crown" marking, but they can be found elsewhere too.

If you have pictures that you can post, please do and if you are unable to post them, send them via email to me and I will post them for you.

At this juncture, I or another trying to help you should really have the revolver in hand, but, given the medium we work in detailed pictures will help.

If you don't have any pictures and can not get any, then this has probably gone about as far as we can take it. And I'll leave you with a final thought ... probably not what you want to hear, but, it needs to be said ... your revolver may be one that was assembled out of a pile of parts that would explain the absence of the V or SV prefix, Brit marks, s/n differences, etc. No insult intended, it can be a super shooter, but if it is a "parts" gun there is no real value to it.

If you can give us more info and pix please do so.

Have received pix and I will post them as a new post so that David has the benefit of a full 10 replies.
