On occasion, I will designate an "agent" in writing, ususally a friend, that is going to an out of state gunshow. He carries some of my FFL's with the phone number on them so the seller can verify them.

The letterhead I give him list his ID information, and words to the effect that he is operating on my behalf for the purchase of weapons. The seller is directed to call me with any questions and advise me of any purchases.

Never had a problem and aquired some good weapons if I was unable to attend the show.

Only way I know how to do it. If you are friends with an FFL.

    Felons are just SOL.

I have purchased handguns in different states and had the dealer I purchased from ship it to an FFL dealer in my home state.

My understanding was that if you are a felon you can still own and purchase a firearm as long as your civil rights have been restored and you are free of parole.

    Theoretically, yes.....

However, several years ago Congress withheld funding from the federal office that was set up to restore gun ownership rights to felons. So, in practice, it just can't be done.

    Sometimes, life just isn't fair.
